The Doll Eyes on Tony Jones' Show

On Sunday, November 20th the boys were on the 7PM http://www.990wbob.com/ Tony Jones' Show. After being subjected to look at Tony's blackened (and by the sounds they were making in the background, pretty disgusting) toenail, they talked about how they became a band and other bands they play shows with in the Providence area. They mentioned (and sorry my memory is not perfect so a band or two may be missing) The McGunks, Full Body Anchor, Lenny Lashley, the Trash Killers and a huge shout out in the end to the Pity Whores (and, no, Cory does not owe Phil any money). Staying true to the format of Tony's show, they also played a few of their songs acoustically on air.

The first song they played, History, is the first song that Phil and Nate wrote together. This song can be found on the 666 compilation that includes 6 songs from each band with the two other bands being Bad Blood and the Cruelty and the McGunks. OK, technically the Doll Eyes cheated on this one and ran White Royalty and Fall's Apart together.

Nate recorded all the Doll Eyes songs excepting the drums for the compilation. Gary's drums were recorded by Bill and Rice at the Fallen Angel Record Studio in Quincy, Massachusetts.

The McGunks songs were recorded as well at Fallen Angel when Phil was still bass player in the band. He is credited as the bass player and backing vocals on the compilation.

History can also be found on the full length Doll Eyes CD, Too Many Feelings which has been distributed by 75 or Less Records out of Providence.

The next song they did was Walden Woods which has yet to be recorded. This is a song Nate wrote and has yet to be recorded for distribution. The Doll Eyes have included Walden Woods in their regular set back in the Spring of this year.

The last song, which Phil dedicated to the bands good friends, Jess and Joe Bliss, was No Future. This is another song that can be found on both Too Many Feelings and the 666 compilation. Phil wrote this when still with the McGunks but it was one of the songs that transferred over well to the Doll Eyes set.

History and No Future are also two of the songs Phil plays when doing his acoustic sets on his own.

Despite sound issues, the songs they chose sounded great acoustically and the really (I am from Massachusetts, so yes, I can use the following word) awesome news from this experience is that the guys now are talking about putting together an acoustic CD.

Good job guys!
